days pass
years move
yet i kept hoping
kept throwing up wishes
because that's what you do
when you're a romantic
you look for the sparks
for the light when it seems
there's only the grey and shadow
and you wish and hope and keep faith
you believe and you try
knowing it will never be perfect
just taking a chance on better
but i don't want to be a romantic anymore
throwing wishes like stones into oblivion
where there isn't even an echo back of maybe
why keep faith when no one cares
why keep believing or trying
when it's all in vain
because you know
everyone else is just
smiling and nodding
until you go away
