PIW 15 January 2011

In our second 2011 issue of PIW, we present poetry and audio recordings by Chinese-born Tian Yuan, who fell in love with the work of ShuntarĂ´ Tanikawa, Japan's national poet, while visiting Japan in the 1990s as an exchange student. He began writing poems in Japanese himself and is now one of the leading poets of Japan.

A number of poets on PIW write in languages other than their native language – and we've created a new archive tour to celebrate a selection of these poets. We've also published a new poem by Dutch poet Remco Campert, 'Forgotten Field'. It's one of ten from the specially commissioned Dutch and Flemish Poetry Day pamphlet Een oud geluid (An Old Story), and is accompanied by an audio recording of Campert reading the piece.

Read the full editorial, poems and translations in the current issue of PIW at www.poetryinternationalweb.org

Later this month . . .

On 27 January, we'll be publishing the rest of the poems from Een oud geluid on Remco Campert's PIW page for our special Dutch and Flemish Poetry Day issue.
